LuAnne's Crafting Site

HomeHi Welcome to my site!Nov 9, 2007
If you like looking at crochet items and dogs come on in! I love to crochet and most of my work is donated to charity. The charity most near and dear to my heart is the Pine Ridge Indian reservation in SD.This site gives me a chance to show some of my donations. because most of my family and friends never get to see the items I make, because off they go in the mail as soon as they are done.So I decided to build this site. Plus I also love to show off my 3 doxies. Hope you enjoy your visit and thanks for stopping by:)

Here are 2 sweater sets I made for the Pine Ridge OB unit. A nice easy pattern to follow. It is a Sandy Power's original pattern she designed for our group CFAC.

Sandys Cape Cod Originals can be found at these places:

You can buy the download to the pink cocoon pattern at my group's Web store and all proceeds go into the Pine Ridge propane fund. It is a nice easy pattern to follow and a lot of fun to make.

Here is afghan # 11 for this year. I added the pic to the 2009 album also. The sqs. or should I say Hexagons was made by CFAC member Gypsy. I think this came out so pretty. I love the combination of colors. I played around with the hex's for quite sometime trying to come up with a pattern and nothing looked right to me. So I decided to throw them all in a box and just grab.I sewed the hex's with thread not yarn. Then did a border of single crochet going around it twice. Now the final test before I mail it out is to throw it in the wash to see how my sewing holds up LOL.

Another project I am doing this summer besides joining afghans is adding some fun to some hats that CFAC member Bridget has sent .She made and donated them for the kids in Pine Ridge. We thought the kids would enjoy them more if they were jazzed up a bit. So here are a few ideas I have come up with. I have a book of embellishments I have been using but I realized after I made the flower maybe flowers are not the right adornment for a winter hat. So I will be searching the net for some other cute pattens. If  anyone knows of any cute ideas please let me know:) I am on the lookout for some quick simple adornments for these great hats

Thanks for dropping by and have a great day!

We went camping last weekend, so I thought it would be the perfect time to make something up for Scarlet (greatgrand) & Gina (grand & Scarlet's mommy). Because they are coming in town for a visit this weekend:) Yeal!!

Here is the little dress I made for the baby. I hope it fits.......

And here is a purse I whipped up for Gina. I lined it with the camo kerchief:) I'm pretty happy with it as I never made or lined a purse before. Made one big mistake when I lined it I sewed the lining to the drawstring. So I had to put a new drawstring in further up lol. But I think it all worked out

I thought I better get my afghan album started for this year. It is already May and I hadn't did it yet. So here is what I have made so far this year. These are made from sqs, that are sent to me and all are donated to the Crafting for a Cause charities. If you are waiting to see your sqs. in one of the afghans please keep checking back. I will put all blankets made this year in this album. You can also check last year's 2008 album to see if they have been used yet. If you don't see yours, don't worry because all sqs will eventually find a home in one of the afghans.
Thanks for looking!

Here is Girly Girl. The pattern can be found in the latest issue of Crochet World, June 2009.
She is meant to be hung on the doorknob and all of your little girl's hair pretties can be on her. On her legs are ponytail holders plus I put more fancy ponytail holders in her purse. Plus some other clips and stuff I found at the dollar store. With all the pretty things they have for little girls you can accessorize her in many different ways.
She also will be doing to the UC Davis center. As a matter of fact she and my other 3 projects are on their way now. So I am back to sewing together sqs. for afghans & lapghans.
Hope everyone is enjoying their day!

Look at me I'm just a pile of balls!

Put put me together and POOF!

I'm a wiggly worm ha ha ha!!!!!!

This also was made for UC Davis. Sorry I can't share the pattern. But I can tell you that you can find it in the book Chain-Free Crochet Made Easy. Published by House of White Birches.

A nice  and easy pattern to follow and loads of fun to make.I bet you experienced crocheters could figure this one out without a pattern. Just round balls with hook-n-loop tape sewn on 2 sides ! I think a little one could spend hours rearranging the balls and have lots of fun with this silly worm

Tootles have a great day!!

Here is Nani!  I had so much fun making her. I got the pattern at crochetkitten.com.
This toy is made for a child undergoing treatments at UC Davis. I hope she gives them some smiles, just like she did me as I was making her.

When I finished her I sat her in front of the computer and hubby just burst out laughing. He thinks I'm getting pretty talented with my toy making lol.

I already started another toy. The next one is a wiggly worm:)
Show you when I'm done

I took a count today to see if I was on track

Yikes I'm 22 behind schedule!!

I have 278 made and I should be at 300 today. Don't know what happened there. But I know what I am doing tonight as I watch Idol.

This is a blanket I made for a woman who is collecting blankets for kids that have Nephrotic Syndrome. It is a kidney disease. My granddaughter was diagnosed with it when she was 3.And fortunately has been in remission for 8 years now.She is the lovely lady that has blessed me with my first great grand child pictured below. All the children that suffer with this disease holds a special place in my heart. You can read more of her story on her blog and get the info if you would like to give a child a prayer blanket this year. Follow the link below the picture.

My friend Vicki suggested I join a group that loves vintage patterns, because she knows I dabble in thread crochet. This is the first project I did with them. They have crochet alongs with all kinds of wonderful patterns. This one is the Garland- Rose and Pansy Doilies Coats & Clark's Book No, 197 1969.  You could choose to make a ring of roses or pansies. As you can see I picked the pansies:) I love the colors!

Also here is a doily I made to sell in the CFAC web store. This pattern is from the House of White Birches Book of Doilies.

Working with thread is a nice break from yarn projects. I plan on a few more thread projects this year. I would really like to enter a project in the fair someday. I plan on it every year, but life has always gotten in the way so far. Who knows maybe this will be the year.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out the doilies:)

Well here she is! This is my great grand daughter Scarlet Katie. She was born Jan. 16, 9:37p.m. 6 lbs.13oz. 19" long. and I think she is Beautiful!!

Here is Mama (Gina) minutes after giving birth. She is so very happy! She did so well. They told her she broke a record on how fast she delivered. I told her she better be careful. She is a baby maker. This was too easy for her, as it being her first one .As you can see she is very proud of herself and baby here lol. She is going to be a wonderful Mom

Look at that face! I love the head of black hair. All my kids and grandchildren were bald or blond when they were born. She is going to be our dark hair beauty. Just like Scarlet from "Gone with the Wind" that is how  Gina came up with the name. She loved that movie and I don't know how many times she read the book. I even found the sequel of the book for her to read. She always loved that name.

Thanks taking a moment and for sharing in my joy.

Have a great day all!

Look what I woke up to today! And it is still snowing! We had to blow paths for the doggies to get to their poop yard lol. All of them love the snow except our little Moe ( little black one). He is to tiny and he shivers so badly when he is out side. He'll take a blankie on the couch any ol day rather than being out in this.
It looks like we got around 12" and going to get more (sigh)
But I thought I would show everyone a Ohio's winter day.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend:)

Well I'm off to a good start on my 2009 goals:) I finished 6 items so far. 4 of them are in this pic. The other 2 are sewn scarves I made over the weekend, those pics will come later.

This was a fun pattern. You can find it here It is written in UK terms so you have to remember that dc = sc and tr = dc and a htr = hdc.

I went threw the pattern before I started and changed it so I wouldn't forget and dc when I was suppose to sc.

But I loved doing the pattern. Most of my baby items are usually one piece with out sewn seams. This one has seaming in the hat and booties. I like the look of them better than my flat patterns. And it wasn't as hard as I imagined it would be. Actually they seemed to work up faster:)

Now to whip together a blanket and it will be ready to send off.

Happy New years everyone!! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a fun filled New years Eve

Today is the day I am thinking about my 2009 years goals. I made my 2008 goals of 64 charity items. I even went over it I had a grand total of 67 items!

I keep track of my goals here  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bevs-charity-challenge/ A nice site to do this at.

This year I want to make 100 charity items!!  I think maybe I'll make 30 joined sq. blankets, 10 Baby blankets, 10 toys, 10 booties 10 hats, 10 sweaters, 10 baby mitts, 10 scarves.

I know  I can go over 100, because I can think of so many more items I would like to make . I know for sure I will make 10 extra afghans, because my dearest friend in the world passed away last week and she was in the process of making each of her grandchildren a afghan. She had 2 of them started, and the yarn bought for the other 8. I volunteered to make these afghans for the kids. This will be a labor of love for me to do and not counted towards my charity goals.

I wish everyone luck in meeting your next year's goals and resolutions

Merry Christmas  everyone. We got some snow tonight so we decided it would be a nice night to take our yearly Christmas pic of the house. I guess you can say we put a few lights up. Our entire neighborhood decorates like this. We get bus tours going past the homes. Last year we dressed up as Santa & Mrs. Clause, but haven't did that yet this year. Maybe this weekend. I still haven't bought the candy canes (yikes) to hand out to the kids. This was just one of those years where I got so behind:( I still have all my Christmas shopping to do. I am really running out of time here lol.

I hope all my cyber buddies have a wonderful holiday this year and get to spend time with your loved ones and you all have a blessed New Year

"Our little store" is a web store started by the members of Crafting for a Cause group. It is a place to sell some of our crafts or used patterns and books. Plus also to help a cause that is dear to our hearts and that is to keep people warm in the Pine Ridge area. All the money generated from the store goes into our Pine Ridge Propane Fund.

Click on this and you will be taken to another one of my pet projects. I help run a web store for my favorite group CFAC. In it you will find some very nice things the other members have made or donated. The nice thing about "Our little Store" is all the proceeds are for charity. After I pay for the postage to send your item out. The rest of your money is put into the Propane fund to help buy propane for any family that might run out this winter in  PineRidge. Last year we was able to help 10 families. It is a great cause.

Here is a sample of what you will see if you go to the store. We have some beautiful knit and crochet stitch markers.

Or how about some wonderful handmade jewelry.

We also have a fine selection of used books and patterns.

Plus if you go to the embroidery section. We even have a member who will customize your selections for you.

So if you have the time check us out and browse threw all the pages/ You might just find something you like and you can help keep a family warm this winter

Shhh don't tell but I took some charity crocheting time off to make my soon to be born great-grand daughter a layette. She is due to be born Jan. 24th. I am so excited! I can't wait. It has been a few years since I have had a baby to spoil so I am ready:)

The sweater is one of my fav. patterns Aunt Jens sweater ,and I use it a lot in my charity projects. But the blanket is a new pattern for me to use and I really like it. It is called the Round Jacob's Ladder for babies and you can find it here . It was the first time I attempted a Jacobs Laddar. It went very fast and wasn't to hard at all to follow.A fun pattern to do that has interesting results.

Well now it is back to sq. joining. I have the sqs. picked out that I'm going to use. I just need to decide the joining color and boarder colors. The next one is going to be a patchwork of colors.
